The Corn Harvest

We got a call from some friends who had a giantic corn harvest saying we just can't do one more ear of corn. Matt went and picked up the corn and we proceeded to take it off the cob and freeze it. Everyone helped and in 1 1/2 hours we had 150+ ears of corn from cob to freezer and the kitchen cleaned up. Of course we couldn't have done it without Uncle Judd and Nanny Jen who had happened to just have gotten back from their summer trip to Colorado and dropped by to see us for the weekend.

Kids Day Out

As Moms and Kids we met once a week all summer long to go on field trips. We went to the zoo, parks, beaches, pools.... It was always fun and gave the Moms something to do each week that was enjoyable and exciting and the kids had other kids to play with so they didn't kill their siblings over summer break.

4th of July

This year for the 4th Matt's sister Melissa and family came to spend a couple of days with us. Of course I don't have pictures of cousins anywhere but online at Shutterfly. One thing at a time - first the blog and then my pics for scrapping in order. Our town does fireworks for several nights so it was awesome to be able to go to fireworks on the 3rd come back to the house, sleep in and then go to the parade and have a cookout, goof around together and still both be able to get in at a decent hour with our children so we could go to church the next morning. On the actual 4th as soon as it was dark the girls did some sparklers and we called it a night. We love having our cousins and Aunt and Uncle so close (neices and nephew and sister and brother-in-law). It is most awesome in every way :-)

Hairdos and Kisses

One day after doing a new (to me) hair style on all three girls I said I wanted to take a picture. They of course got really silly and started kissing each other. Within 15 minutes Uncle Judd and Nanny Jen called and we were out the door ready to meet up at the beach. It was a good way to make a hot summer day pass. We had a picnic, played at the park, swam, played in the sand and then capture the flag. It was a great summer day filled with family, fun and cuteness.

To the Zoo and Ice Cream Parlor with Grandpa Dave

Every year around his birthday we meet Grandpa Dave (Dana's Dad) at the zoo and then go to an ice cream parlor called Ella's Deli.  It has become a grand tradition - one that children and adults alike look forward to.  Their is a carousel at both the zoo and Ella's and we usually make it on both!

Our Next Project

Our next project and hopefully the last one we will start this summer, better yet this year is a trellis/harbor type of hammock. We drove by this trellis last year and I fell in love. I instantly thought hammock. Actually it started way before that - I bought a plant at a plant sale and was trying to figure out how to best display its beauty. I guess I am a Lefeber through and through aren't I.

Fishing Fridays

So Matt has not used much of his vacation time for the last couple of years. He decided at the beginning of this summer to use some of those days for Fishing Fridays. The girls, but especially Elizabeth, have been begging Matt to take them fishing. Elizabeth talks about it at least a couple of times a week and has for a couple of years now. Matt has taken every Friday off all summer long (minus one as he already had a commitment for) to take the girls fishing. They have labeled it Fishing Fridays. Our first Friday we went to a friend's house who has a pontoon boat and a pier right off their back yard. It is a guarantee fish catching day so we thought that might be a good way to start. Each of the girls were able to reel in a fish of some sort - even I caught a foot plus large mouth bass but it bit the line off 6 inches from the dock - a least that is what Matt tells me. I wonder if he was jealous as then he stole my fishing spot. A good friend of ours, Sue, was also able join us there. She taught me how to really worm a hook. We brought along a picnic dinner and good thing as Rylee was famished from all that fishing. I thought it would be a nice treat for the girls to have soda since they never get to, I guess I should have told Rylee how you drink one as she dumped 1/2 a can down her neck. More fishing Friday stories to come...

Kite Flying

We had a beautiful day for kite flying. The kite stayed up with very little effort at all. By the end the girls went to the park next to the field we were flying in and held onto the kite while going down the slide and such. It even put itself back up in the air from the ground one of the only times it came down. It could not have been more perfect of a day.

Chicken Pox

Even though she had been immunized with the original and then a booster, Elizabeth got the chicken pox. We weren't sure at first what it was as they never formed a the blister. After having 2 pediatricians look at her they decided the pox is what it was. She was pretty itchy but they were able to give her some anti-viral meds that kicked it pretty fast. Hopefully at this point she is 100% immunized!

The Deck

We started building a deck.  Another project we underestimated the time and funds for.  Three times what we thought the cost would be later and 10X the amount of time we still are not done.  We will have more pics to come as it is much farther already than pictured but just the holes took us a week - the entire time Matt took off work to get the deck done....  Then they filled with water even though we had them covered - from the ground up.  We had to redig some but isn't that how the story goes.

Dance Recital

Elizabeth and Cierra had their spring dance recital. They both did an amazing job. Elizabeth did a ballet and a tap routine. She was nervous but pulled it all off fantastically. Cierra got sick as we pulled up to the school for the dress rehearsal but was able to make it through the recital and ended up being fine. We think she just got overheated. Andi did their hair... they are both so beautiful...

Trampoline

So the Easter bunny brought a trampoline for us. He said he hid it in the garage during the winter to make his basket lighter. We never even noticed it amongst all the other stuff. The girls have not gotten off of it since.

Easter

The typical Easter weekend. We colored eggs on Friday night, looked for eggs and baskets on Saturday and went to church on Sunday. It was a good weekend.
